I have just had my coach auto AC system converted from the original 2 cylinder York compressor to a modern 7 cylinder Sanden compressor.  I like being able to use the auto AC rather than the house AC when traveling.  No need to run the generator!  The expertise was provided by Eric Whedon, coach #587, with development of a mounting bracket customized for the FMC as a joint project.  None of the available "off the shelf" brackets utilized both the original mounting plate and the extra two braces that are used on the FMC to secure the compressor.  With laser technology, the fit and finish of the new custom bracket is good.

Go to the Photo Album section for a photo tour of the installation and then we would be interested in your comments.  I must add again that I am very, very pleased with the operation of the converted system.  With the 2 cylinder York when it was operating it introduced considerable belt hop and vibration to everything.  Under load this system operates with ZERO belt or unit vibration!  All is GOOD!!

If anyone wants to save any of the pictures to their computer to view offline, click on the picture to get the full sized view and then right click on the picture and then select "Save as ...". Select a location and name for the photo on on your computer and then click "save" and it will be on your computer.

Good informative gallery, Stephen.
Thank you.

Is there a cad drawing for this bracket available?

Kjetil,
Thank you for your kind comments. By our doing a posting and photo story (as you are doing on your coach), it is hoped that others will be more informed and see what is possible for them to do. Without someone doing such a story, others will not know what is available and what options exist. As people do various projects, document them and post the process, considerations and results of what they have done, the knowledge base of the entire FMC community is expanded and others are encouraged to do their own projects.

I did have several extra brackets made at the time I had mine (and Eric's) made as the main cost was in the initial measuring and drawing and laser set up. The setting up, bending and welding is more expensive than the steel. Given your distance, I will look into it and get back to you in a few weeks
