If you don't have the repair manual, you can download the steering setion it at this link. http://www.fmcmotorcoach.com/files/Manual/7_steering.pdf No more mileage than what is on your coach, I would hope that your steering gear box still has enough adjustment in it to be able to remove any excess play. If still needed, based on your coach number someone can look up the number and name of the box you need. |

Location: Santa Cruz, Calif. | The problem isn't excess play, it's too tight. The steering wheel will not return to center on it's own. I have to pull it back which means I am over correcting all the way down the road. At speeds above 50 it gets very intense.
RVS suggests someone tightened it to remove play but the box is really shot. When I get the coach back tomorrow, I will back the adjustment out, maybe 1/8 turn to see what happens. ButI am assuming RVS knows what they are saying. |

Location: Cottage Grove, OR | I am going to assume that they eliminated the tierod ends as the cause of the tightness. I know this was a problem with the original permanently lubed tierod ends. |

Location: Canton, (Sixes) GA | Some original tie rod ends had plastic in them. These swelled over time and became tight. Replaced these and the ball joints in mine and it solved a lot of problems... Denny |

Location: Canton, (Sixes) GA | There are also many places that rebuild steering sectors.. also kits for DIY.. I had the one in my Chevelle rebuilt several years ago (somewhere in TX).. web search.. ..Denny
