I think the answer is yes and no! There are products sold for coating the inside of a fuel tank that seals small leaks and stops rust from being a problem. My fuel tank had a seam leak and I had that process done and it worked in my case. I do know of others that had it done to their tank and it was unsuccessful and they ended up replacing the tank. In my case the tank was removed and cleaned, the material mixed up and the tank tumbled to coat the entire inside and then everything put back together. I did not do the work on mine. I had it done by a repair shop so i don't have a source or name of the material used. One option would be to contact Leon Sweet as I believe he has a used fuel tank for sale. You can also get a cost estimate to have a new tank made locally to yourself. |
