0890 has two dipsticks to check the oil, one on each side.. they do not read the same.
8920461-LB is on the left bank of the engine, checked from the curb side access door.
8920462 ND is on the other side, checked by reaching through the rear access door.
When 461 reads midway between full and add, or one quart low (where I like to run it),
462 reads right on the add mark. They are different lengths. With two 2 quart filters 12
quarts of oil puts 461 as full. Not a big deal, just curious. If you get a chance, let me
know what you have. Seems like I read somewhere that the engine needs 10 quarts,
Since I'm running the large filters 12 quarts seems right. Thanks

It is not unusual for the dipsticks &/or the tubes to have been replaced at some time. Not infrequently, this results in an incorrect calibration of the dipstick. They have also come from the engine builders with incorrect calibrations.

To ensure a correct calibration, you need to determine from a knowledgeable source what the oil capacity of your engine is with the pan that it has (some engines have different pan capacity options). Adjust for the filters that you have (as you have done) and then put the correct amount of oil in it and then mark the dipstick accordingly.

I had to replace the broken dipstick on my 440 and so I had to go through the above procedure myself.
