Dear Alaska-curious FMCers,

As our spring flowers are starting to (at least think about) blooming, thoughts turn to the Summer. We've had discussions at the past couple of Meg Rallies about a caravan to Alaska. However, time and distance are always factors. To give some idea of the scope this journey, I offer the following tentative itinerary:

27-28 June: Meet in Dawson Creek, BC
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qswpIArZZH4/UaJ_oU3ASJI/AAAAAAAACeY/aywrY...

Aug 4-5: Stewart, BC/Hyder, AK - 224 mi

Aug 6: Hazleton, BC - 169 mi

Aug 7: Prince George, BC - 277 mi

That totals about 4600 miles. From Prince George, one can return through Vancouver, BC, or head east through the Kootenays, Jasper Nat'l Park, Banff, etc.

Note for getting to/from the start & end points:
Dawson Creek, BC is about 1600 miles from San Francisco, and 2000 miles from Chicago.
Prince George, BC is about 1400 miles from San Francisco, and 2100 miles from Chicago.

Who's in?

Jim

Too early for me Jim but sounds like a good trip.

If all goes well, I'd be down for next year.

Fantastic itinerary! Really wish we could go on this. But, at a full 2 months of traveling (including getting to and from BC), we cannot swing that yet. Some day, we WILL do this. I hope you get some takers as that will be an epic caravan.

Jim, count me in! This is a trip that I have been wanting to do for more years than I have owned my coach. My coach WILL be running by then with some test miles on it before jump-off time.

Jim, I'm afraid this summer is not going to work for us. I do plan to do this trip some day. Frank.

Oh rats, Frank - now who's going to keep us on the road? ;-)
Seriously, it would have been fantastic if you could come.
I hope you get to do that sooner than later.
