Location: 345 Ridgecrest Dr. Santa Barbara Ca. 93108 | Dan, any luck finding the window channel ? I'am ready for that job on 079. I have a lead and am trying to get a sample. It appears one has to buy a fairly large quantity. In the event the fit is off thats a problem. Thanks Frank Freda (frankfreda@cox.net) 805-886-7500 |

Location: Medford, OR | No luck on getting any advise yet. Like you, I've seen possible channel that would maybe work (theirs a million different choices), but like you said you have to buy a large amount, and it's not cheap. It would be great if you could get a vendor to send you a piece to try... |

Location: Scottsdale, Aridzona | Check out this Catalog - http://www.crlaurence.com/adv/catalog_library/zips/crl43.pdf Lots of Glass Shops (that CUT GLASS !) buy stuff from CLR. Think he has what many others sell all in one section of his Catalog. Sliding window channel starts on Page A322(240 of 435). Use the Part Number, minus the CRL, to look other places to find something that you think might fit. Please SHARE what you measure, order, from who, for how much $$$, and what fits and does NOT fit. Location: 345 Ridgecrest Dr. Santa Barbara Ca. 93108 | Lou, and to those who are interested. I have an account with CRL & Co. I sometime ago purchased a sample ring from them with 50 or 60 3" window channel samples. Some may work but expensive and requiring large quantity purchase. One was of special interest. Contacted the manufacture who would not sell to me but may give me a 2' sample which I feel is necessary. In the mean time CRL came up with a universal RV channel which I will order 8' of. However i have a couple Ideas of substitute materials that may be very cheap and readily available. Installation may require removal of the window frame and installing the track material on the glass. I am thinking outside of the box here, should work all this out within a couple weeks. Thanks Frank Freda 079 phone 805-886-7500 |

Location: 345 Ridgecrest Dr. Santa Barbara Ca. 93108 | Dan, yes I have worked out a channel system. Different from the original but works fine and is cost effective. I have not had the time to do the second window and was waiting for more material, which I now have. Also yet to do a writeup. But will do so soon with pictures. However will give a quick rundown on my system later tonight when I have more time. Thanks Frank Freda (frankfreda@cox.net) |

Location: 345 Ridgecrest Dr. Santa Barbara Ca. 93108 | Dan, about the window channel. Just to give you a quick idea of how I approached this issue. First of all I don't operate on the premiss that throwing more money at something solves the problem. My guess for about $150 one should do all the windows on an FMC. I couldn't find any track material like the original, which was ok with me because I didn't like the original system anyways. What I did is put on to the window glass PVC edge trim 1/4" x 3/4". With this system it requires inserting a 1/4 plastic spacer in the lower track under the window to properly center the window. No need to take out the window frame. Once you remove the old track top and bottom the glass can be tilted and remove from the vehicle. Insert the edge trim on the glass, put the window back sliding the top up into the channel first afterwards insert the plastic spacer under the glass and thats basically it. The window doesn't appear to leak or rattle; fits and slides very nicely. However there are more details to the installation like making space for the weep holes. I have yet to do the second window and write down each step plus take pictures. May be another couple weeks until I get FMC time. Thanks Frank |
