Location: Houston, Texas | hello family, need input info on what's the best way to remove the old onan from our 74 FMC ..😳
tired of working on it, I have a Onan Esmeralda Plus 6500 ready to go in...
we put one of these in our 75 GMC Palm Beach when we did the remodeling, about 5 years ago and still going strong.... odor and problem free every time we have to use the GMC as a backup and during the last hurricane. 👍 |

Location: Soquel, CA. | I removed my old Onan. I had to put the back of the Coach up on blocks (as high as I could go) so that I could take the generator out from under the coach. I used straps and secured it from above, took out the supports below, then lowered it on to the ground. Pretty heavy, to say the least. Realistically, a two person job. Wish I measured how high I raised it, but it was probably in the 8" range. |

Location: Cottage Grove, OR | When we removed mine, we had the coach on jack stands and the left rear fiberglass piece removed. Used a board on a floor jack under it to take the weight while unbolting the two supports. Then lowered it down and slipped the jack from underneath it and then slid it out.
Yes, a two person job. |

Location: Soquel, CA. | That's right! I used a floor jack underneath to help lower it too. Forgot about that part. Also, I needed extra height to accommodate the dolly I put on the ground that I lowered the generator on to. I did not have to remove the fiberglass cowling. Although, if I had, it would have been easier. |

Location: Canton, (Sixes) GA | Mighty 890D sports an Emerald Plus (c 1995-96), propane, so 6300 Watts. Did a tune up (plugs/filters/Mobile1)) and replaced the resistor on the side and it runs great. Handles Refrigerator, Converter, Fans and one roof Air OK. If I want to run both roof airs, will put the refrigerator on propane (or turn it off) and cut back on the fans. I did have to remove the exhaust header pipe and have it welded back together at the V junction, too many bumps I guess. I never start or stop it with any kind of load. Take pictures and share. |
