Location: Oceanside, CA | I just sold my Safari Trek and I'm interested in replacing it with an FMC.
I'm in San Diego and prefer Western/Southwestern rigs(but willing to travel for the right deal). I don't want a huge restoration project but I am open to some mechanical repairs.
I actually will probably swap in a Duramax/Allison to what ever coach I end up with. A rig that has been well cared for with some major/minor restoration is preferable.
If you know of anything I'd appreciate the lead. You can send them direct to me at: Len.Barron.Jr@gmail.com
Thanks

Location: Oceanside, CA | Just to add some granularity to my search, I prefer a 73-75 as the 76's still fall in the Emissions/Smog Check requirements for California(unless it was originally a diesel, or previously had a diesel swap approved and sticker still in place).
A well cared for rig that might be needing an engine/trans repair/rebuild would be perfect. I don't want to pay for a newly rebuilt powertrain just to pull it for Duramax/Allison swap.

Location: Canton, (Sixes) GA | David Jacobs / Rapid City SD / had 735 w Duramax/Allison up for sale some time back.
A coach with the Detroit 8.2 Turbo Diesel/Allison's makes a good tow rig for considerably less money, admittedly old but solid technology. I will probably have Mighty 890 on the market come late fall (age/health). There is info on both of these coaches in the Coach DB this site, just food for thought. I was interested in a Safari Trek at one time, unique and cool machine. Happy hunting. |

# 205 is for sale
The coach is in very good condition inside and out. The generator needs a regulator to run. the 440 is from a Chrysler Imperial, 1976 I think. I put new bearings, rings, cam, timing gears and chain, oil, fuel and water pump. The alternator was checked out and repaired as needed at the repair shop as was the starter. It could be sold as a reliable engine if you changed the coach to a diesel. Window glass is all in tact and has tint film on them. The windshields are used, purchased from RVS. The rubber mounting seal is new. The front cap has been re-worked to accommodate the electric, and heated mirrors and new rectangular headlights. Mileage is 120,000. 3000 since 25 to 30 K of work was done at RVS, receipts and letter from J.Black attesting to the work and value.
It is a trailer Queen as is, some adventurous person could string a set of gauges to the front and it could be driven.
I am going to attempt to attach some pictures.

Location: Olympia, Washington | Len: I looked at a coach near Chehalis, WA a while back it might still be available. The block was cracked (no antifreeze + cold weather) it looked like a fairly well maintained coach with an updated interior. The current owner 'sold' it then repo'd it with the cracked block. I believe I posted the info on this site and the Yahoo site along with pictures. If I'm not mistaken it was #45. At the time the current owner wanted to sell it and was not interested in putting an engine in it. If you can't find the post and are still interested E-mail me bygorge@comcast.net I'll dig it up. Good luck on your search. Look in 'albums' and Coach DB on this site. :-)

| Hello FMC Forum group,
I am in charge of selling an estate here in Seattle, WA. One of the vehicles that is for sale is a 1975 FMC 2900R. I believe it is number #854 if I’m to read the last numbers of the VIN. I worked for the owner for about 25 years and he had just got it when I started. He quit driving it 4-5 years ago because of health issues. I started it up and backed it out of its car port, so it seems to run good. It does need tires and brake work. I’ll try flushing the bakes to see if that helps.
I just posted it on Craigslist, so if anyone knows someone looking for one of these, please let them know.
Here is the Craigslist ad, I’ll be working on better pictures.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/rvs/5141173494.html
The family and I are trying to find a new home for this classic, hopefully someone here can help it get there.
Thank you for looking and read what I’ve posted,
James

I was browsing thru the FMC site and saw your wanted ad for a FMC. Unfortunately mine has been totally restored with diesel power engine (Detroit deisel) Allison transmission and deisel generator. All of this was done maybe six years ago and coach maybe has 4 to 5 thousand miles since the restoration. The coach has been totally restored mechanically and the interior totally restored with all new appliances etc. You will not find a better restoration or a nicer coach. Over $ 250,000 has been invested in the coach will part with it for $ 75,000
The coach is in Allentown, Penna
My name is John Yurconic cell 610-657-6310
Coach has never been advertised

Anyone concerned about the color of their next FMC is not a serious buyer. at least IMO
It's wouldn't be a deal breaker...but it would factor heavily in price. If I have to do a color change (to something I don't hate)... it would decrease the value (to me) at least $2500.
The wheel issue is another good example of price driver...rigs already equipped with alcoa wheels have a $2000 advantage(to me) on those that don't.
Probably the most important thing I'm looking for is a rig that spent most/all of it's life in covered/garage storage and is a west/southwest rig so that all the exterior surfaces are rust free/dry and not cooked to death from the sun.
Recent driveline/suspension/brake work would be of great value.
New appliances or air conditioners...
A rig that has good aftermarket updates like a leveling system, tow brake system are all part of the equation.
I'm finishing some work on my jeep so if it takes a couple months to find the perfect rig that's fine...there are quite a few on the market and fall and winter are better for buyers...I'm not an impulse buyer and understand that the duramax/allison swap (which will also include a diesel generator swap) will probably scratch the bottom side of $20k buy the time I complete and probably 250hrs of labor of my time.

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado | well, Len, that is an appropriate response. I guess I should agree that a color you hate will cost you $2500. so, well played ;-)
Also agreed that the Alcoas add at least $2k to the price. I think I know somebody who paid $5k just for the wheels. (no names, bill)
My #110 has been in Colorado for 12 years, and came here from Lubbock, TX, so I can vouch for the exterior being rust free, but the paint has some blisters, admittedly.
I can also attest to the domestic systems, which are all less than five years old (furnance, AC, etc).
But as we have already talked, I have a new tranny, new rad, modern alternator, etc, and #110 is not currently a perfect candidate for a diesel conversion.
As I always say, best wishes in your search. The coach you want will come along pretty soon, no doubt.
Best regards
Jim, #110

Pictures are the only way I can evaluate it given the distance.
If you can get someone to take them and email them to me at Len.Barron.jr@gmail.com along with your asking price I'll see if it's a candidate.
I've looked into transport from the northwest to San Diego and at a minimum for a running driving rig it is $1800, non-running is $500 more.. so that really drives my offers for rigs that are out of state and not in "fly in, drive home" condition.
Just to be straight with all, I've looked at many running and driving rigs in the $6500 to $8500 range so anything priced above that and out of state(California) will not be an option unless they are somehow "outstanding".
Thanks

| LCAC Man I have a 1973 FMC 2900R for sale, the inside is in good shape it was reupholstered 2 years ago, the outside is decent, needs a new passenger side windshield, the entrance door and a storage compartment door have some damage, but it isn't too bad.
It does not have an engine or transmission because the guy I got it from was going to do a diesel swap but he moved and gave me the RV. Depending on the Diesel you wanted to swap in, I have a tranny that was going to go in it for a Detroit Diesel.
I can email you the pics |

I'm really happy with the deal, all in with shipping I'm at $8350 which is $150 below my target so I'm starting off in good shape. As a bonus it has 7each alcoas, a leveling system, and awning which would have been expensive additions for me.
added some pics of trailer/offload operation...it was quite a evolution..

yes...or at least that's what the owner reported, I need to be sure that there is actually a problem with them, I think 95% of the problem was the 25yr old grossly under-inflated tires that are on it...it'll take a bit to get it all surveyed. |

| Hi, I just purchased a property in Chardon, Ohio which was the estate of a couple who had passed. On the property is a huge garage and guess what i found in it? A 1974 FMC2900R! I remember the couple buying it when i was a kid and was surprised it was still there. Last license plate was from 2014. The coach looks to be in really good shape, body is straight the interior is completely original, and with the exception of the carpet is in excellent condition. The stove and oven look like they were never used. I have the original owners manual and will be listing it in order to fund demolition of the old farm house which is beyond repair. Thought i would reach out to you first. |

That way we will always be able to see these coaches, no matter who down the road purchases them or? I wish everyone who contributes info on this site and/or purchases one of these babies would do that. All FMC enthusiasts would appreciate it.
