Anyone have an old air filter assembly? Thought there might be a few around, since there are a number of conversions to EFI or other power plants..

I also have a Donaldson air filter assembly. I am in Ontario, about 7 hrs away, we were through Portage a couple of weeks ago on the way home from the mega rally. Frank Borrmann

OK, which coaches came with the 'Donaldson' filter assembly? Mine seems to be an automotive type filter assembly.

As far as I know all FMC coaches came with a Donaldson from the factory. All is a big word when talking about the FMC.

Yes, all is a risky word when discussing FMC's!! For the record, when I owned #0087 it had an automotive type air intake/filter unit. Speculation on my part, but possibly they started with the stock automotive one and quickly realized it's shortcomings (drawing in hot air from near the engine) verses cool air from the side and with a higher capacity filter since the engine compartment can get quite dirty at times and quickly switched to the Donaldson and encouraged the owners of the earlier ones to upgrade.

What I don't know is whether the automotive one on the #0087 was what it originally came with or was installed by a former owner. Aaaah, the mysteries of the FMC world!

Here we go again!
Someone please tell my why I spent hundereds of hours gathering and making available to all of you for free, every bit of the focumentation found on the FMC29000r? Why do I still pay every month to keep WWW.FMCMOTORCOACH.COM "on the air"??

Are FMC-owners a special overeasily bored kind of people that actually prefer sharing ramdom speculating rather than facts?

Like in this case I understand it must be so utterly boring to make that virtual travel into the "service bulletin" directory on fmcmotorcoach.com and click on "Air cleaner" just to find that the Donaldson air cleaner was made available as a "Heavy durt air cleaner kit" by May 15 1974. And that coaches affected are serial nr. 00001 to 00530. If you bothered you could asume coaches 00530 up came with the Donaldson.

You guys are killing me

Thank you Kjetil, I'm off to read the service bulletins (ugh). When I was still working I saved that kind of reading for insomnia. Puts me right to sleep every time but that's OK, now I have lots of free time and I like to take naps.

Stephen, did #87 have a single snorkel or double snorkel air cleaner? I have bought 2 of the J440T (big rod) motorhome engines with the dual snorkel air cleaner. They have a decal showing the proper thermostat for the motorhome engine.

Yep Kjetil is right, I should have checked his website first. But if everyone did that the questions would drop to a standstill. HMMM.
#100 has the mount for the Donaldson but was switched to throttle body injection and uses a K&N. #289 was set up the same way. Not sure about Donaldson mounting but will check. #412 also has the mounting but the Donaldson was gone when I got the coach, it had been partially stripped.

Boy...At $1,645.00, we could of all had a Donaldson air cleaner/filter assemblies installed....I think I'll stick with 3 or 4" (cant remember size) ducting and a large serviceable K&N.

OH! And thanks Kjetil, I look at the web page all the time.....Not many vintage RV manufacturers, (well none that I can think of), have literature like we do with the FMC. It's a great source for us.

I re-plumbed my Donaldson with much lighter 4" alum flex dryer-vent piping. So far, so good.
