(204.130.226.100) | An FMC has become available to us at a price point we can easily swing. The issue is at the moment it is not driveable. It dropped its tranny heading to the shop. Owner wants to get away from it. So the bit thing is that I cannot drive it to test it. A bit of a leap of faith.
I have gone over it pretty thoroughly, the interior is very straight, it seems well taken care of. That said, I think it sat for a while prior to being moved to a repair shop. I have a slew of questions, in no particular order?
I have restored a number of cars. All of them in the 60's and above years and never had any parts issues. What I worry about is not so much parts but the rubber... I worry that I won't be able to find seals and stuff for the machine.
Also, there is nothing special about the Transmission, right? Just a 727 TF and a normal shaft (not a shortened shaft). Also the exhaust manifold is broken, again I assume that is a stock item from chrysler. (not sure how the manifold became broken) I worry about steering and suspension parts a lot, especially if this has been just sitting for a while.
Anyway, any additional advice for things to look at?
We have a steep gravel driveway, before I buy this is there any chance that it won't make it up the hill? We get UPS up there but unsure if there is traction issues with the machine. | |
