Elite Veteran Location: Oceanside, CA | There's a few possibilities that I can think of: 1. insufficient propane pressure to allow the start circuit to energize. 2. failed control module 3. failed ignitor 4. failed gas shutoff valve to go any deeper in this you would need to get the model number info and start a broader search to forums with more rv furnace specific detail, sites like IRV2 and RVNet both have massive member input so you'd be more likely to get the needed detail there. | ||

This is interesting as the only red button that I know of is for lighting the pilot light of of the water heater and not of of the central heat which heats up the inside of the coach. Are you accessing the red button from the outside of the coach? If so, at this point I would strongly recommend that you search for a mobile RV mechanic to come to the coach and resolve your issues with someone that can analyze them while looking at the coach.

Expert Location: Cottage Grove, OR | Thomas C. Mencher - 2018-10-21 5:16 PM It's not a Suburban. It's a Coleman. Yes, FMC used Coleman heaters until somewhere in the middle of production. They then switched to Suburban. The challenge facing anyone with the earlier Colman heaters is that Colman stopped making them a long time ago so parts are very difficult/impossible to find. Many owners of the earlier coaches have had to switch to a current Suburban heater. To do this requires a little fiberglass work as the combustion air inlet and outlet are in different locations. Good luck in solving your heater issue, but since I don't know of any of them that have a heater that has a lightable pilot light I do think that you need to get someone on site to give expert advise and assistance. That is why I continue to advise contacting a mobile RV service person. Not everything can be solved over the internet, especially if you have a different system than others. I do have friends with Coleman heaters, but they don't have pilot lights. | ||

I discovered that the Coleman Heater manual is on my computer and the early ones did have a manual light version. I have sent him the manual and found a way to get information about possible RV techs in his area of New York so lets hope it all gets worked out for the better for him. I was only familiar with the later models of heater that do not have the ability to be manually operated. | ||

Elite Veteran Location: Medford, OR | My 1970 Open Road motorhome had a manual light furnace, probably the same Coleman like Thomas has. My hot water heater in #850 is a manual light model with an "aftermarket" automatic igniter mounted to it. It works good, but you still have a lit pilot on all the time. All the igniter does on mine is replace the lighter that will eventually burn your hand.... Edited by dkarnath 2018-10-29 6:10 PM | ||
