Subject: Thermo king evaporator cooler assembly



(73.14.34.63)		Hello Everyone, I acquired coach #303 and all of the rear cabinetry had been removed. In the rear cabinet was a Thermo king 725 evaporator cooler assembly. Previous owner removed and discarded. Any ideas where to find one or something similar to? All the hookups and drain tubes are still in place. Thought I would see if I could return to somewhat original condition. Thank you

(68.2.104.9)		Remember the "add on" UNDER DASH AC Units ? Except in the rear of the FMC . . . they were mounted in a Panel.
That is what got removed/discarded.

Google Under Dash AC. There are MANY new and many used. Still made NEW !

ps: What City is home to #303 now. Some other FMC Owner may be nearby.

(73.14.34.63)		Thank you for the information on the ac unit. Number 303 is parked northeast of Denver. She is not road worthy at this time. The old girl lived with many years of neglect and has a ways to go. But she's mine and I love her.

(172.10.134.245)		I'm going to do you a kindness here...trying to restore the engine driven A/C system on an FMC is a fools errand. Do yourself a solid and run your house air conditioners or install a roof air conditioner and just run your generator to keep the cabin cool. Trying to seal up a 46yr system with hundreds of connections will just make you insane (and pennyless).

Stripped out the house and engine AC units already. Got me a good 3000/watt inverter and a roof AC unit ready to go.

Going to upgrade my alternator to a 300 watt or so unit and run it alone, rather than a dual set up.

This 'roof AC unit running while going down the road' idea I got from you was among the best of your many good ideas you shared during your swap.

I've driven FMC's in over 100 degree heat multiple times, sat in traffic stop light to stop light, climbed mountain passes in 100 degree heat all while having a cool running 440 in rear of my FMC. Your right, I know nothing about Colorado summers....Just that my summers are probably hotter than yours. You could maybe go down to your local Autozone parts store, ask one of the kids behind the counter if they want to work on your FMC, they will probably work for pot. Good luck my friend.

(68.118.54.115)		To the OP, My advice is to take it to a shop like Midas or Sears and ask them to “make it work “...Honestly, you could have the system put under vacuum and see if it holds. The person I sold 850 to had the system pulled down under vacuum and it held. He plans on charging it in the future.

(71.197.142.167)		I haven't checked but the factory charge of R-12 has got to be around 10 Lbs. or so. The cost of refrigerant alone even R-134A dooms the system. That doesn't count how much you lost finding and fixing all the leaks which only happens one at a time. Holding vacuum is a good start but it's got to hold pressure also. Anyone have the spec handy?
