Hello,

Getting ready to head out on our maiden voyage in our new-to-us #599 and am hoping to be able to get the furnace fired up. Range, oven, and water heater are working well.

The model 4030 furnace hasn't been used for at least 12 years. Following the directions in the owner's manual, I was able to get the pilot to light several times holding the red ignition pushbutton but it wouldn't stay lit, even after holding the pushbutton for several minutes. Now the glow coil is not activating/glowing. There is power to the unit and the wiring box fuse is good.

Any tips or advice?

Thanks In Advance!
Lee

Hey Lee. What kind of furnace do you have? Second, you might want to post on the Facebook site. Its a lot more active at the moment, might get some more responses.

From what I've read in a few threads here, I believe it may be a Coleman for which parts are scarce. We just returned from our first outing of two nights with temps in the 40's and managed quite well with a small space heater. I'll keep researching and also get a quote or two to replace the furnace.

Thanks for the advice regarding Facebook. Other than a few specific forums of interest, I'm not on any social media platforms.

If you do have a Coleman, I would recommend replacing it with a Suburban. Yours would be old enough that you do not want to run the risk of having a firebox crack.

Thank you Stephen. Is there a specific model that is a direct fit?

The only significant adjustment are the intake and outlet ports for the air. On the coleman they are horizontal whereas on the Suburban they are vertical. tomorrow i can take a picture of what another owner did to make the change to his coach.
