My wife, Pam, and I had the pleasure of meeting Henry Blair last spring. We visited Henry and his very lovely wife, Benjie and their 5 FMCs in their Bethune, South Carolina home. This Friday (January 26th), Henry will be undergoing open-heart surgery. His spirit and sense of humour are as keen as they were last spring, but his body has been giving him fits. I'm sure those that know Henry will want to keep him in their thoughts and prayers. I'll be in touch with Benjie and will keep Henry's fans informed here on the forum. Wishing all of you all the best for 2018. Go, Henry!!

Yes, it was a 9 hour operation and the first word is that Henry came through it very well.

That’s great news, Stephen. I was going to wait until mid-week to call Bennie, but will now give her a call this afternoon. Will share the news.

Benjie Blair sent the following e-mail yesterday. "Better than expected." Welcome news!!

Henry's surgery went well! Better than expected. He has been in ICU until this afternoon (Tuesday) when they moved him to a room. He had a reaction to the pain meds and is confused and adjitated, but they are working on that issue.

Spoke to Henry at the hospital yesterday. Recovery's going well. Dr. told him in 2 weeks he'll feel like he's 65 again. For Henry, that would be GOOD.

On another note...we're planning to convert one of the coaches we bought from Henry into a food-truck type operation. We have a graphic artist working on the project. He'd love to get his hands on a straight-on side view drawing of the passenger side of an FMC. Most of the coach drawings I've found in the manuals are from a point of view above the coach. Our guy is looking for an "elevation". If it's labelled, that would be okay. Wondering if someone might have seen something that might work.

Please see FMC BUS pictures/Drawings at every FMC Owners Friend Kjetil Bergflot's Web Site -
http://www.fmcmotorcoach.com/files/TransCoachSpec.pdf
The Curb Side View on Page 15 has the "wrong door" in the right location. Scale "FMC Motorhome door" from actual measurement of door on any one of your FMCs.
The window aft of the side door is not on FMC Motorhomes, but appears to me that all the other windows in that view are in the "motorhome" actual location.
Easy to scale the rear bedroom side window fore/aft location from the rear Pillar.
Of course, the Bus Marque is not on regular FMC Motorhomes. Removal of it and a "free hand curve of the front roof line will have to be "created".
The front straight part of the roof seems to shown correctly, so other than the radius of the front roof edge above the windshield, seems a straight line (curve of infinite radius) could be drawn even by a computer.
Does any one know how to draw anything by hand anymore, besides me ?

Parts Manual (on-line): Group 2 pp. 2-10

You'll see a hard line drawing of the starboard side of an early coach. It's not both sides obviously but is a start. You could easily save it, crop it, then blow it up bigger if needed.

Thank you, Canadian FMC brother! Will take a look. Am hoping to bring the coach we keep in Portland, Oregon up your way sometime this year. Would be great to meet you if we do.

We're on Vancouver Island (Victoria area) and yes it's always cool to have a chance to meet another FMC casualty! Beyond the $250 or so USD to ride the ferry over here, you'd easily burn up a week or two as there's lots worth seeing, like my coach for example; I have an orange 'Union 76' ball on my antenna! Hell, that alone should justify the boat ride. :-0

Great to get the info on the ferry, Terry. If we haven't taken a look at your Union 76 ball within the next two years, I'll be amazed. Regards! - Grant and Pam

All welcome here anytime. Are you guys going to make Chama? Vicki and I are gunning for it but it's not etched in stone yet until I get confirmation from the Trump government whether or not he's going to amend the 'Border Act' to allow Canadian campers to bring Canadian firewood across the border. I've been actively lobbying him for several months now (via Twitter) and he's actually okay with it. Says it gives him a welcome break from the migraine-headaches he gets trying to deal with N. Korea and Obamacare etc. :0

Leave Canada’s wood in Canada! And be smart and leave our local wood and pests contained within here. Sometimes there is a good reason for the rules.

Go Henry!

Thanks for the welcome. We aren’t able to make Chama, but hoping we can hit one of the west coast events sooner or later.

Having spent some time in Colorado, I understand Bill’s concerns with CN wood. The devastation of trees in that state due to new bugs has been wide-spread. Regards! - Grant

Had the opportunity to speak with MR Blair last week he sounded very upbeat and positive after his surgery he said that he was hoping to get up around my area this summer to have some window work done I am looking forward to his visit, meeting him and getting ideas and input on modifications that I would like to do to my coaches. Best wishes Henry and God Speed on your recovery.
