Leveling System, Hitch and Towing Modifications

This album will show both the loads I attach and the modifications to the hitch/braking systems to make that work.

Replaced the original 1/2" fasteners that were a loose fit in the oval mounting holes with 5/8" high strength flanged fasteners. I also welded the inside of the frame rail extension (only welded on the outside from the factory)


the entire underside has been boxed in as well...this will not flex..

added six additional bumper mount bolts to match the extended length of the structure


These are the Power Plus jacks, this was early on in my project but the only real pictures I took of them, the fronts are the same.


This is the original controller for the Power Plus system, it was completely shot.


This is my new controller, I cut the face plate out of the old box and inserted the Carling Rocker switches.


This is the original relay panel for the Power Plus system, the only change I made to it was to remove a large power resister and install a fuse holder instead.

while it just looks like a switch panel, there are also 20 diodes in there as well to make it work right and use the limit switches to illuminate the lower lights of the switch if the jack isn't in the fully up position.


front leveling jacks deployed, the drivers side of my driveway is a lot lower so you can see it is extended quit a bit more


rear jacks deployed, again the drivers side has more extension but both rears are much more extended to make up the slope in my driveway


I had been a little concerned about the ability of the rear jacks capacity...but...they are rated for 8500lbs each and didn't seem to flinch in pushing the rear up the 5" to get it level


I purchased an ACME EZE Tow Dolly used on CL, the owner had already modified it by changing the main tube to accept either a drop or straight hitch coupler and he added a brake away switch for electric brakes. It's a 2015 model year so not much use on it. I don't care for the small 10" tires and how low it sets but the overall construction is very good and I don't have a lot invested in it...yet.
