Location: Canton, (Sixes) GA | Just spent a couple hours on the semi-annual ritual of cleaning the radiator fins in 0890. Sprayed it with water yesterday. Today, two gallons of straight Purple Power via a pump up garden sprayer, a 30 minute soak, then lots of medium pressure water both directions. It's about as clean as it gets. There was a recommendation of spraying it with kerosene at this point. I have never done that, what is your opinion? I seldom drive on dirt/gravel roads (just when in KS and CO..oh yeah, and NE). Also doing annual antifreeze drain/refill. Thanks in advance.., Denny |

Location: Cottage Grove, OR | Personally, I never have put kerosene (or anything else) as I have always felt that anything like that would attract and hold any fine stuff from the air and a lot of air passes through the radiator. This is based on my working in agriculture where radiator plugging is constant battle. |

Thanks Stephen. I reread Leslie's recommendation under maintenance tips on the MCR web site; I may or may not do this.. Denny Follow cleanup with light spray of KEROSENE AND WASH OFF WITH WATER. Subsequent engine compartment and radiator cleanup will go easier.

Location: Carthage Missouri | Denny--kerosene will take the grease off but then you need to use SOAP and water to take the kerosene film off. Don't forget to protect the bearings on the motor. Jim Woestman #617 |
