Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Ignacio Colorado | I am looking for the park brake drums that have been damaged beyond normal use. Drums that have the brake shoe surface ruined. If you are replacing the drum, I would like to have the old one. I am having them cut down for converting to the Chrysler overdrive transmission. The drum is cut off and the hub machined to allow an electric speed sensor to be added to the 4 wheel drive version of the overdrive transmission. I hate to think of the useless drums that have gone to the junk pile as this can give new life to the damaged drums. Maybe Lou will post a picture of the reprocessed drum along with a picture of the drum (now a yoke with a tone wheel) installed with the speed sensor on the overdrive housing. Bill

Was just thinkin' - regardless that you are a die-hard Mopar purist - is there any other driveline park-brakes that could be used here? What about all the 7.3 Powerstroke ambulance's that used them, or, all the Ally AT-545's etc. ? Regardless, good luck with this as I could be one in-line to buy one off you. Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Ignacio Colorado | Terry, you are getting off point here. I am looking for the scorched/worn out Chrysler/dodge park brake drums to get them machined into a rear yoke for the version of the Chrysler overdrive I have put together. The drum shell gets cut off so no park brake will be on this transmission. There is another Chrysler yoke that fits the spline and our driveshaft but it is too long as we are limited for space. Another form of park brake will be used. Bill

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Ignacio Colorado | I got pictures of the yoke after major surgery that turned it into the part we used to mate the original FMC driveshaft to the 518 overdrive 4x4 tailshaft. http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=133&p... Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Ignacio Colorado | It is 1&5/8" longer and that includes the 1/2" adapter plate. We were figuring it could be done within 2" and found a little bit more we could shorten things up. Bill

Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Oceanside, CA | 2" shouldn't be a problem, that's about where the duramax/allison combo comes in length-wise and it fits fine. You'll probably just have to make adapter plates for the motor mounts to account for it.
