Location: Canton, (Sixes) GA (24.98.223.107) | Last week heading to the campground there were a few showers. Going down a hill when the car in front of us suddenly decided to make a left turn and stopped for oncoming traffic. I jumped on the brakes hard and barely got stopped in time. Petal was way down. Made it to the campground and discovered the left front brake hose had ruptured. Closer inspection showed the wheel/tire had rubbed through most of the way. I spoke with Chris at MCR and he indicated the big wheels do sometimes come in contact with the rubber brake line if not positioned just right. Replaced the brake hose, inspected the rest, adjusted the shoes and bled the brakes. A frightening reminder to keep plenty of distance and remain alert. Not a good feeling to have the rear end start to swing around and coming very close to running over that little car. Some of the scariest moments in >27,000 coach miles, lesson learned. Dot 5 fluid is $30 a quart at NAPA. |
