If you are reading the thread about my conversion from the Chrysler 440 to a Duramax diesel, you will realize that I will have some major items to sell.  The golden opportunity is for someone to purchase my compete engine and transmission setup.

It is my hope to sell what I am taking out as a complete unit so that someone else can do a significant upgrade to their coach at a reasonable cost.  If your coach engine is starting to get a little tired or starting to burn a little oil, you need to seriously consider getting my takeouts.

Here are some descriptions:

1.  Engine - rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago so is very fresh.  Value: $3,500

2.  The fuel system was changed from a carburetor to the Edelbrock MPI fuel injection system. Value: $3,000

3.  Allison 545 4 speed transmission with adapter bell housing, flywheel, starter, engine and transmission mounts, fan shroud, etc.  Ideal for mountains and towing as is rated at 30,000 lbs.  Value: $3,000

As a package, I will let all of the above go as a package for $4,500 plus freight.  The systems work well as others can verify.

If you are anticipating needing or wanting to do something in the next few years, it would behoove you to pick up this complete package and then do the install at a later time when it is convenient for you to do the install or replacement into your coach.

Give it a serious thought.  If you want additional information give me a private email (stephen at heinrichs.com) or a phone call at 916- 425 -7996.

The complete engine package as described above has been sold.

Due to changed circumstances for the buyer, the above items are again for sale.

In the meantime, they have been removed from my coach and separated into three items/groups.

The first is the engine with the Edelbrock MPI fuel injection system including the special manifold installed on it.  This system injects fuel individually to each of the cylinders.  I installed the Edelbrock system as I wanted consistent, easy starting of the coach whether hot or cold.  And that is what it does.

The engine itself was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago and has taken me to the Midwest twice as well as around the West.  It has the motorhome "torquer cam" which delivers good pulling power in the 2,600-3,600 rpm range.  It also has a larger than normal oil pan which holds 10 quarts.  If your engine is getting some miles on it, this would be the unit to pickup.  You will have both a fresh engine and a modern fuel injection system.

The second item is the Allison 540 transmission.  It is a very robust 4 speed transmission.  Its third and fourth gears are the same as second and third in the LoadFlite 727.  The Allison's first gear is lower and the second gear is higher than first gear in the 727.  This gearing is very advantegous in the mountains.  If desired, the transmission cross member will be included with the transmission.

The third item is actually a group.  It is the cast adaptor, flex plate, spacer, and starter needed to attach a transmission with an SAE 3 mount to a big block (440 etc.) Chrysler engine.  The Allison is an SAE 3 mount, but so are some other transmissions.

Should you have an interest in any of the above items, please email me directly at Stephen@Heinrichs.com .

At some point, these items will be sold through other outlets.

Thank you for your consideration,

The fuel injection system has been spoken for by a club member.

The long block engine has been purchased by another FMC owner who lost his engine. It is being delivered today.

The 440 to Allison adaptor and starter remains available.

Hey Stephen, will the Allison adaptor work with other Allison transmissions? (such as the 1000)

Yes, the adaptor will work with any SAE 3 transmission.  Allison 1000's come in two ways: the SAE 3 mount and the SAE 2 mount.  You just need to ensure that you are getting one with the SAE 3 mount.
