So in my quest for the best possible drivability I’m looking at the service manual for the caster setting and it says to “adjust by turning the radius rod with a pipe wrench”. I just don’t see how adjusting this rod will move the lower pivot point especially without loosening anything else?
Anyone have experience with this adjustment? I have the turntables and inclinometer to make the adjustments.
thx, Jon

Just took the caster measurements and the left side is 4 degrees positive and the right is 2 degrees positive. I'm actually thinking about bring the right side to 4 positive. I know that is out of spec but I've been reading a lot about caster settings and how added positive can help with handling. Supposed to snow here in N. Georgia tomorrow so not sure if I'll crawl around in the snow to do this or not.

I do not know what the caster setting is on my coach, but after having a ball joint replaced (by a shop) the handling deteriorated. I had them increase the castor and the handling improved to where the handling was like before the ball joint work was done. I do not know if that will be true for others or not, but is definately something to consider.

Why don't you go for the spec 2 degrees positive on both sides, and then if you believe it's potential in added caster increase, by 0,5 degree at a time, to get some feel for what you believe is better? Seems like a kind of random approach to ajdust the one side that is on spec to suit the other side which for some reason is out of alignment.
But who knows, maybe I never read enough steering geometry and caster angle effects. :-)

Keep us updated on what caster you find to work best for you on your coach.

Stay cool

Ending up today with left and right set at +5 degrees caster and what a huge difference it made especially at highway speeds. No wandering and the steering effort is much better as now there is some steering effort required as opposed to no steering resistance at all before. While I'm only guessing I would not be surprised if this wasn't the secret sauce to Lesley's steering make over.
Just my 2 cents
