Location: Bethune, SC (204.116.151.110) | On #589, my Michelin tires are rubbing on the spindle bolts. I think I will be the first to test two 19.5 Alcoas with 225/70/r19.5'son them, then test, on Ellis Safe Wide Wheels, 33 x 12.5 x 16.5 tires. The bad news on these tires is they are no longer made in a M&S tread, only made in off road tread. Here are some questions, 1. Are there any spindle stops on a front steer FMC? The conversion to front steer was done by the shop in Illinois. I could not find any stops that would limit the turning radius and spindle movement. 2. Has anyone besides Len put a Safe-T-Plus steering damper on their FMC? Len says they are great. I was at the Safe-T-Plus factory in Austell, GA, yesterday with #589. They will install the damper for free if you buy it from them. They would not install the damper om #589 without stops. There damper only has 4" of travel each way, which appears to be adequate. The technician, a young guy, Jacob, who really knows his stuff, says I could bolt the danper between the spindle mount, with an adjustable mount on the drag link. It moves less than the max travel, without stops, but I must use a smaller tire than a 22.5. The people at Safe-T-Plus are as knowledgeable and just plain nice as any company I have deal with. Even my wife commented on how cordial they were to all the customers who came through. Henry |
