Is it a stock FMC Thermoquad (Thermoquads have a cast iron base plate, a middle body of black plastic, and an cast aluminum top) ? Then it is removed and reinstalled like all the other Thermoquads used on Big Block Mopar engines. It is nothing special. You work on the carb from both the pass/curbside and rear engine bay doors. If it still has the huge Donaldson Air Cleaner with a big hose running to a hose adapter mounted on the carb, then remove that big cast adapter and the flex hose and you'll have more room. Maybe remove the Donaldson can if you need even more room. All the other "stuff" (AC Compressor, Alternator, distributor and wiring and such, pretty much need to stay where they are. You work around them). Regular T-quad fuel inlet fitting, vacuum lines, and throttle and kickdown linkage hookup. 4 bolts. If you don't really know where all the vacuum lines fit, take a picture or draw a diagram, mark each with tape and a label or a number so you will know where EACH goes putting it back together.
If it is a Carter AVS or some other Carter then it is NOT stock, and without pictures, or Model Name and Number of whatever you have on FMC #454, we can't help you.
Why are you removing the carburetor ? Are you a MECHANIC ?
Where are you ? If we knew, some other FMCer might be nearby and help you in person. Post some pictures of #454 please. Tell us about #454.
Do you also own FMC #115 ? If so how about some pictures of it also.

Sorry. Looked at my spare T-quad. It has a CAST ALUMINUM BASE that has been machined, not Cast Iron. Lou #120.

Lou thanks a lot for your reply.it will certainly help.the carb on coach #454 is desperately in need of repair or replacement. It is full of gunk and leaking around the gasket area. I live in central Nj.
