I was wondering, as I am about to install an awning, if anyone has the frame layout that lurks below the skin of our fine coaches?

I took some pictures in IL that show some of the upper aluminium structure. Have uploaded in the #477 gallery. I thought they might be useful for cases like this. At least I hope they might be helpful for understanding the build up and make it more easy if you get exact numbers from anyone, or if you want to search for structure under the fibreglass using a instrument.

Good luck

I have made a new album in the gallery, "FMC undressed", wiyh some more pictures I took at MCR of what is under the skin on our coaches. I am not shure if you good people find any interest in pictures like that, just tell me if I should have them removed.

You have a 1.75 inch x 3 inch aluminum beam horizontally above and below the side windows. So, the top of this beam is about three inches above the window frame since there is a 0.750 inch C-channel welded to the window edge of the 3 inch beam.

For awning installations,We at MCR take the awning rail to the second radius of the coach structure and have the arms bent to the coach contour so that the awning can go from the front side window over the entrance door to the rear of the bedroom window.

This presents a nice installation that does not ruin the FMC Coach's aero lines.

Of course, this awning cost more than the typical awning.

Thanks--Barn

Sorry for not having more pictures like those.
I will upload and share more tech pictures as we start doing repairs on #477.

I have also uploaded some pictures i took of the lower portion of the outside when I was at RVS and they had a coach with the lower panels and front cap removed. Also some are of overhead areas where the headliner was loose. The album is "Under lower skin of #975".

If I can find how to scan to the reply message, then I will send a picture of the FMC Coach without the upper fiberglass to allow those that can not "picture" the descriptions that I have posted in the past.
