While working on the gas tank I came accross somthing I hadn't expected. It seems that the tank had been internally coated and now the coating is starting to come loose. I spent a couple of hours with a pressure washer and scraper trying to get it all out of there but even with the enlarged 6+ inch hole I'm not happy with the results so far. The large baffle puts a crimp on reaching everywhere I need. I haven't found anyone locally that will boil it out as the EPA has pretty much killed that industry. Any thoughts on how to proceed?
Thanks, Hal

Yes, do as I did and have a new tank made! That lining in the tank was put in there to stop a small leak. I had that done to mine after a pealed tire tread beat up the front seam of the tank. Ten years later it was starting to seep and so the easy solution was to simply replace it. A new engine calls for a new tank.

One other option would be to just replace the bottom portion of the tank. Cut off the portion below the supports and replace that part only. That is where the leaks are as that is where the water sits in a gas tank.
