Location: Cottage Grove, OR (204.195.110.58) | Interesting! It was always my understanding that they were all 440 powered, but I also now understand that the transits for Portland, OR had a GM diesels in them. Now this!
I see that you have Coach 552. If you call Jim Black at RVS in Morgan Hill he may be able to tell you who was the original puchaser and whether or not Ford 460's got put in any of them at the factory. He worked for FMC while the coaches were being built. 1-800-821-2266
One has to remember that if a customer was willing to pay for it, just about anything could be done within the confines of the basic body and frame. It is possible that one of the transit buyers (e.g. multiple units) specified the Ford engine as they may have had an all Ford fleet in their other general use vehicles and wanted them the same and FMC said "Sure, we can do that!".
Let us know what if anything you eventually find out. |
