I still have an original 12 volt only in mine, but when it quits (hell, I haven't even tried to turn it on yet?) I'm going to gas/electric like 98% of RV fridges...If you look at the photo albums on this site and the other, you will see most all the FMCs have been updated..If you boon dock, you would want gas option for sure I would think, the 12v only is tuff on batts I've heard.

I went back to an electric only refer for various reasons. The new ones with the Danfoss 12 volt compressor use significanlty less current than the original elect refers. Mine uses 5.2 amps of power so with decent batteries I have no problem doondocking. I also have a nice, quiet generator if needed.
