Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma | Hello all, I have found two 8v batteries set up on the domestic side of the power run in series does anyone know why the last owner would do this?
There new batteries from sam's so there going to swap them out for me, what should I do go with two 12v or to 6v |

   Location: Cottage Grove, OR | <div>I would go with two 6 v batteries. It is my understanding that you will have a little more usable ampere hours with that setup. It has worked well for me for 15 years.</div><p> A couple of other thoughts are that possibly the prior owner experienced low voltage and, instead of locating the cause, just increased the voltage at the battery. Another is that he had some specialized equipment that needed that voltage and another is the he got them for free so just used them and my last thought I'd that he just didn't know what he was doing!</p><p> </p><p> </p> |

   Location: Canton, (Sixes) GA | Mighty 890 has two Trojan T105 six volt golf cart batteries in series. Great batteries but overkill for our use, thought we would do more boondocking.

Plus you already have the cables to wire them in series. Keeping everything the same.
#850 has two 12v parallel, They are 20 years old, and un-hooked! For me to change back to 6v, I would need to make cables and rearrange the configuring in my box. I don't do a lot of boondocking either, so I will probably pick up a couple new marine 12v'ers and call it good. |
