Squish is good

The engine block is back from the machine shop, acid cleaned, 030 overbore, new camshaft bearings and a new fuel-pump axle bushing. Picture also shows the water pump housing that has been acid cleaned and the old pistons. Now Now I guess it's time for some tedios cleaning before starting the rebuild. Always wanted a Mercedes with a V8 in it, this is probably as close as I'll get.

The old forged crank looks really healthy after a very light deburring and a good clean up. We'll have to wait until bearing squish is measured to see for sure if it's good to go back in as is.

Engine block is at the machine shop so now it's time to do some cleaning up on the parts to be reused.

Santa brought in some more parts. Can't wait for the holidays to end and have the block done.

I have been messing around with rust removal by electrolysis for quite some time. A while ago I imported some carbon graphite plates from Israel (e-Bay) to use as anodes. I tested them yesterday and they really made a great difference. The prosess is a lot cleaner and way more efficient than with iron anodes. This is the thermostat housing after 2 hours i the electrolysis and a very light cleaning of with a wire-brush.
