Tank painted and ready for the modified pickup/sender. | The tank was coated inside which required cutting the bottom off to access all the coating. Quite an unexpected chore. | (1 Comments) As I had to cut the bottom off I figured I'd add a bit to the capacity. Adding about 4.5" should increase volume to about 72 gallons. Readjusting the fuel sender it looks like about the first 20% will show full before dropping. Not enough room for the float to swing the full height with the added depth. | After more time than I care to admit thinking this out, I decided to use the stock Duramax air cleaner. These things need an awful lot of air, in the neighborhood of 800 CFM. The Donaldson that came with 669 only flowed about 350. The stock Duramax filter flows 792 CFM. |
Using all stock pieces there is about 3/4" clearance to the firewall. | I plan on building some ducting to get cleaner/cooler air to the intake of the air cleaner. | It should be easy access for air cleaner service. | (1 Comments) Figured another arm might be better. This is the inter cooler I'm using. It's from a late Ford Powerstroke so will have plenty of capacity for the DMax. They are nice and compact and very efficient.
