The Yahoo F M C Group site has a RVS bulletin (#001) outlining driveline assembly and proper alignment of the transmission and differential. The copy is a bit fuzzy but readable.

RVS-001 refers to a tool for the trans./diff. alignment. The tooling built for #400 is a bit crude but effective. (At least the vibration went away!)

The bulletin calls for alignment within 1/16th inch. Tools must be adjusted to equal length. (Face of flange to tip.)

The MARK-I version on the left and in previous photos was hastily fabricated with little consideration for ease of reproduction.

Selection of components for the Mark-II was a bit more thoughtful. Lowe's had all of this "stuff". A $20 bill may leave some small change but not enough for coffee.

This standard floor drain has an almost perfect 4-1/4 diameter flange.

This bushing size was selected because the 1/8th inch female iron pipe (npt) thread size uses the same tap drill size as the 3/8-16 tap used for the threaded "ready-rod".

Tap right through the pipe threads and into the smooth bore below. There is plenty of material there although not much is required for this application.

Cut to length and debur threads.
