#477 Part I
Return to the album thumbnailsBack Next

Here is a little trick that work fine for me. My gearshift was kind of hard to operate and I always suspected the wire. So I bought a new one. But while doing the work up front I tested lubricating the old cable. I cut and ziptied a piece of bicycle tube ont to the end of the cable and an plastic can. Then I poured light penentrating lubricant (something close to WD40)in the can and left the rest of the job to gravity. After two days and operating the wire once the lube reached all the way to the rear end and now I have a very nice cable withh little or no resistance. Did the same the the handbrake but could not get it to drip out in the rear (yet). By the way it was the handbrake lever mechanism that made it really hard to operate on #477, not the cable and a easy fix up front. Throttle is next but I'll have to disconnect it on top of engine and route that end down to the ground first.
